Conceptual language model design for spoken language understanding
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes the construction and use of language models specific to semantic concepts. A tolerance mechanism is introduced in order to design conceptual constituents that cover longer word patterns while remaining robust to spontaneous speech disfluencies and recognition errors. These models are obtained from sentence patterns which grow from essential information to longer sequences of words. It is shown that these augmented conceptual constituents provide reductions in concept error rates on a spoken dialog application task. The composition of semantic constituents into semantic structures is discussed together with the introduction of language models for semantic composition. Experiments are described which show the advantage of using these language models to take into account structured semantic information.

متن کاملA robust speech understanding system using conceptual relational grammar
We describe a robust speech understanding system based on our newly developed approach to spoken language processing. We show that a robust NLU system can be rapidly developed using a relatively simple speech recognizer to provide sufficient information for database retrieval by spoken language. Our experimental system consists of three components: a speech recognizer based on HMM, a natural la...

Identifying spoken language automatically is to identify a language from the speech signal. Language identification systems can be divided into two categories, spectral-based methods and phonetic-based methods. In the former, short-time characteristics of speech spectrum are extracted as a multi-dimensional vector. The statistical model of these features is then obtained for each language. The ...

This paper is concerned with the analysis of the spoken language of teenagers, taken from a newly developed specialised corpus the British and Taiwanese Teenage Intercultural Communication Corpus (BATTICC). More specifically, the study employs a discourse analytical approach to examine vague language in an intercultural context among a group of British and Taiwanese adolescents, paying particul...
متن کاملRe-Ranking Models Based-on Small Training Data for Spoken Language Understanding
The design of practical language applications by means of statistical approaches requires annotated data, which is one of the most critical constraint. This is particularly true for Spoken Dialog Systems since considerably domain-specific conceptual annotation is needed to obtain accurate Language Understanding models. Since data annotation is usually costly, methods to reduce the amount of dat...
